Feel good for less
It’s so easy to get swept up in work, friends, relationships and to-do lists so much so that often, our own well-being gets put on the back burner. Most of us forget that self-care helps put us in a better state to provide for other people and career goals in our life. We cannot be the best versions of ourselves if we are not practising regular self-care and attending to our own needs. On top of our routine, we are all also being affected by the trauma left from the Covid-19 pandemic and the aftermath of the cost of living crisis.
This is why I’ve put together five budget-friendly ways you can take care of yourself through body, mind, home and hobbies.
1. Make a daily gratitude list
Practising gratitude is huge when it comes to manifesting more good things into your life. It’s an extremely beneficial method of self-care that costs absolutely nothing! Start small by simply listing out 3-5 different things that you’re grateful for each day and take time to appreciate each thing on your list and why you are grateful for it.
2. Go for a walk
Take this time to focus on yourself, without any music or distractions, so you can tune into your thoughts and feelings. You will be so surprised with the clarity you gain when you take just 5-10 minutes to unplug, get outside, and move your body.
3. Donate 10 items you no longer need
Reorganise your closet with this goal: I want to feel joy when I open this door. This isn’t a chore that needs to be crossed off your list; it’s engaging your creativity in order to enjoy your daily routines more thoroughly.
4. Listen to a favourite playlist or podcast
No matter what your mood is, music and audio listening can provide that much-needed release. Just make sure to choose something based on your mood, whether you need something light-hearted or something to motivate you. If you’re looking for something that is even more low-budget, YouTube has plenty of audio books for you to unwind with.
5. Meditate
Learn to meditate, even if it’s only ten minutes a day and you don’t really know how to do it. There’s plenty of guided meditation podcasts out there, including my own, so just create time and space to just exist. If you think you need more help with this, try reading my blog about this.
I want to help you reframe your perspective around taking good, true care of yourself by remembering that self-care is as simple as self-respect. Just make a start and go from there. Self-care is not just something you need to practise in time of need, but a lifetime journey.
